Desert Rescue
In October 2014, Mark Coombs, of Gresham, OR purchased this '64 Rampside in Fernley, NV. Mark also owns St. Louis truck 101240. This very early-production truck appears to have its original engine: code T0903VB indicates a 110 HP model, for use with a manual transmission, built on September 3. The differential also appears original: code HQ0903 indicates a 3.55:1 FC differential, for use with a manual transmission, also built on September 3. Mark said the Rampside appears to be sporting be its original California license plate on the rear. It was last registered in California in 1979.
Mark promises to send additional information in the near future on what little is known of its history and how he came to acquire it. It must have been quite a trip, because one photo Mark sent shows the sign at the summit of Donner Pass, elevation 7227 feet!
