A Unique One
Eido Walny of Bayside, WI purchased this '64 Rampside in September, 2020. Eido explained what he knows about this unique rig, and his plans for it, in October, 2020:
"I recently took delivery of this '64 Rampside and have begun restoration. This truck is special because it is the only known '64 Rampside with a paint and trim codes that identify it as white exterior (no stripe), fawn interior, with the Custom Equipment option. All other White/Fawn trucks are known to have red interiors. So, this is a 1-of-1 and I plan to save it.
I’m learning more about the truck. A previous owner bought in January, 2018 as a salvage vehicle at an auction in Minneapolis. The pictures of it from that time are scary. Between 2018 and 2020, someone started a restoration. The interior was done nicely and the body work was excellent but whomever did the work either ran out of money, ran out of patience, or both. Lots of corners were cut, including caking the entire truck -- just everywhere -- in turquoise paint. They also installed a 1967 140 HP engine but didn't properly connect half of the electrical and mechanical systems.
I will keep the 1967 engine but will fix and tune it, seal it, and make it hum. I’ll also fix the electronics and mechanical systems. The plan is to paint it powder blue with a white stripe. The work is going to take some time."
