During the concours, Dave Bogosian of Automotive Vision TV interviewed me for a few minutes. Thankfully a couple of other judges were able to cover for me during this time.
I hope I didn't respond too stiffly to his questions! Dave seemed genuinely interested in our Corvairs.
The car did very well in the concours, taking third overall with a 97.91 score. Only 17 points (.17%) separated the first three finishers! My score was actually 81 points higher than in 2005, once the 100-point trailer penalty is factored out. In 2005, I lost 190 points from deductions and I lost 109 in 2006 (not counting the trailer penalty). I was able to drive to the convention site in 2005, thereby avoiding the penalty that year.
Looking over the judging sheets, there are no glaring items to fix. That's a good feeling!
The car also won the Stock Preservation Award, but that was a bit of a hollow victory, since my car was the only one in either the Factory Stock Original or Restored classes.
