As I mentioned on a previous page, Tom Rahochik was a big help in confirming the correct date code for the distributor. By the time I bought the car, the starter had been replaced, so I decided to try to find one with a similar date code.

Tom diligently searched (including crawling on wet, cold ground under a few cars) at Jeff Stonesifer's Corvair Ranch and found me a starter with the exact same date code, 5J29! I was flabbergasted. The starter was the only other electrical component that did not have the correct date code, but now it does!

This picture shows the case after I cleaned and painted it, and my friend Duane Wentlandt transferred the guts of the existing starter into the refurbished case.
