One other date-coded item that I knew to be wrong was the tag on the Carter side-draft carburetor. Fortunately, Duane Wentlandt had one that was right in the correct range of months (August, 1965) for the build date of my car.

This was a very lucky break, because none of the Carter carburetor rebuilders I contacted had one, and the one person who was reproducing them for the Corvette community retired and closed his business.
