Duane Wentlandt alerted me in July, 2013 that my car was missing a small clip, used to secure the vacuum gauge supply hose to a fuel line in the engine compartment.
This clip has turned out to be very rare, seen on only one other turbo-engined Corvair so far, even though the same clip was used in all years of turbo production, as well as on 140 HP engines for part of the 1965 model year. Apparently the clips were discarded during service operations, or otherwise lost.
Tom Rahochik again came to my rescue, finding one of these extremely rare birds at the Corvair Ranch. This photo shows the correct clip after installation.
I posted about this project on the Corvair Center Forum and Dann Weinoe, a talented machinist, made a run of these clips. If your car needs one, contact Jeff at California Corvair Parts.
