Seppo Saario spotted this '61 Greenbrier for sale in Mobilisti in October, 1999. He thinks it might be the same rig he saw in 1970 in Tampere, Finland.
Here's Seppo's translation of the ad:
"Chevrolet Corvair '61, 6 passenger mini-bus, 80 hp 6-cyl. air-cooled boxer-engine. No driving after 1975. No rust. Easy project. 8000 FIM ($1350 USD). Tel. +358-40-5723037. Mr. Taisto Repo, Parikkala."
Seppo said that Parikkala, Finland is near the border with Russia.
He also spotted a rare 8-door Greenbrier in the January, 1992 issue of Mobilisti:
The picture above was taken on January 4, 1988. It's hard to tell what year the rig is, but it appears to not have front door rain gutters, which would make it a 1961 model. Seppo's translation of the picture's caption is:
"Bad-luck (meaning early Corvair) Chevrolet rear-engine minibus in back yard of Espoo Automobile Museum, Espoo, Finland."
The picture above, from the same magazine five years earlier, appears to show the same vehicle given that the same aftermarket mirrors are present.
Seppo may try to track down this vehicle. Let's hope he finds it in the hands of another Corvair collector!
